Hi, I’m Jacob, Photographer from Digital Journey Photography.

Digital Journey Photography was founded in 2018 when I was 13 years of age, but my photography journey began in 2013 whilst travelling Eastern Australia for three months with my family.  I took a huge interest in the birdlife we were seeing and after I noticed a photographer with a huge lens in the Daintree Rainforest, photographing a Wompoo Fruit Dove, I just knew what I wanted to do.

I always seem to have had a camera in hand throughout my life, I’ll always remember the photo of myself when I was about 3, with a toy camera, something I would rarely be seen without! From then, I have gradually purchased and built up my photography kit.  I’m currently using 2x Canon EOS R5 bodies, along with quite a few different lenses! From wide angles, like the Canon RF15-35mm f/2.8L, to telephotos, like the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Sport & Canon RF 70-200 f/2.8L, Plus everything in between such as the Canon RF28-70 f/2L, Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art, & Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lenses.

For me, photography is more than just capturing moments with a camera. It’s a gateway to another world, where I immerse myself in the peacefulness of nature and transform it into a beautiful masterpiece frozen in time. The most abstract and unusual settings are my favourite, as they offer limitless possibilities for creating unique works of art. The level of attention to detail required is something I thrive on, as it allows me to fully explore my creative potential and push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Along the way, by entering photography competitions, I have received recognition for my work.  My favourite award I have received so far, was Junior Australian Photographer of The Year, Runner up, with my photo “Where To Now”, which I shot whilst in lockdown in Quorn, South Australia, which you’ll see on our awards page, under our portfolio drop down.

My ultimate goal is not only to showcase my work but also to use my photography as a tool to raise awareness about the beauty and fragility of our natural world. By capturing the intricate details and delicate balance of nature, I hope to inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation in viewers. Through my art, I aim to shed light on important issues facing our planet and encourage positive change. Ultimately, I aspire to see my photographs displayed in a variety of settings, from homes and businesses to public spaces, as a testament to the endless marvels that exist in the world around us.

I hope you enjoy my work just as much as I enjoy capturing these moments in time.

Happy viewing.

“There’s something about photography I just love. Its the peacefulness of nature. The attention to detail it requires. How you can take the most abstract and strange setting and turn it into a beautiful capture of time.”
